Volunteer at the Visitor Center

The Brevard/Transylvania Visitor Center is looking for friendly, patient volunteers who are eager to help people have a great experience when they visit our area. Volunteers cover three-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Some weekend shifts are also available. Most folks like to “own” their shift every week; others like the flexibility of signing up for 4-5 shifts per month. We want you to volunteer for whatever works best for you!

All that’s asked of you is:

  • A positive and welcoming attitude
  • Willingness to help folks find answers to questions
  • Openness to different types of people from all over the world
  • Patience when answering the same question several times a day
  • Some knowledge of the area is helpful, but not necessary

We also have other projects with which volunteers help, and in the “slow” season, volunteers enjoy reading a good book, knitting or other handcrafts, chatting with their colleagues, in addition to assisting visitors.

If you love our area. If you like hanging out with very cool people. If you like to interact with people who are tickled to be visiting here. If you like being appreciated and valued, this might be just the opportunity for YOU!
