Transylvania True

We are all in this COVID-19 situation together. We’ve created this page as a resource to help our community support local businesses, find out about urgent volunteer and donation needs from our nonprofits, and have ready access to COVID-19 related community updates and resources.

Please check back often, as information will be added and updated as it becomes available, likely throughout the day and each day going forward.

Ways to Support Local Businesses

We encourage everyone in our community to reach out to your favorite businesses directly. Look for their phone number or email address online. Get information about what they are doing, and share that with your own social media networks. This is the best way to share information quickly with the larger community. Some other things you can do are:

  • Shop online or by phone instead of in person
  • Purchase gift certificates to use later this year
  • Check out online offerings, like classes and more
  • Share what you find/learn with others through social media

COVID-19 Testing Sites & Information

Transylvania County Health Department shares new testing recommendations on 3/23/20. According to their site, people with mild symptoms (fever, cough) consistent with COVID-19 do NOT need testing and should stay at home to recover. Testing should be limited to people with symptoms that require hospitalization or whose treatment would change based on the diagnosis, as well as people in high-risk settings like nursing homes and healthcare providers.

Pardee Hospital is offering testing once additional test kits are available. Get current testing information by clicking here.
