Education
As far as higher education, Brevard College provides an excellent program with nationally accredited concentrations in environmental studies and music education. Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) offers more than 100 programs of study, awards associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. BRCC has articulation programs with four-year colleges and universities and provides one of the largest Continuing Education programs in the state. Transylvania County Schools (TCS) has been recognized as being among the top-performing public school systems in the state. The district includes four elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and one combined middle/high school. The county also includes an award-winning charter school, Brevard Academy. Our community is also home to quality private and alternative schools, including Mountain Sun Community School, Bethany Christian School, and The Outdoor Academy (Eagle’s Nest Foundation), that offer a unique and personal educational opportunity for kids. Our community is excited about the new Get Set Transylvania (GST) program, which offers an invaluable collection of health, education, and support resources for early childhood development. The success of GST is due in large part to the extraordinary partnership among early learning resources, physical and mental health providers, recreation and social engagement organizations and more. GST is the product of coordinated collaboration among the public and private schools mentioned above, physical and mental health providers, outdoor educational nonprofits, and key community leaders.   Through these efforts, Transylvania County was the first rural community in the United States to be selected for the Sesame Street in Communities.  This program has brought resources to our rural community that would otherwise be unattainable and has offered new opportunities in early childhood education.
Health Care
Our area is fortunate to have excellent resources to help us stay healthy, regain our health or have support through difficult times. Pardee Hospital, based in Hendersonville, offers a wide variety of wellness, healthcare and health education options. Plus, don’t forget about your teeth!

WGCR is the local Christian radio station. While there is no local television station, we pick up broadcast stations out of Asheville, NC, Greenville, SC, and Spartanburg, SC.
